Make God Great Again

DISCLAIMER:  This post is NOT a political post, nor is it an endorsement for either presidential candidate. :)

Hey friends!

I hope you are having a blessed and relaxing Sunday.  Cy, Jonathan, and Luke have been in South Carolina all weekend because Jonathan was leading worship at a youth retreat down there.  They will be back any time now, and I can’t wait to see them!  I miss them so much!

Last week, Cy and I took the whole family to see Revive Us in the theaters.  Did you hear about it?

It was live on October 18th, but we watched the special encore on the 24th.  Kirk Cameron interviewed Ben Carson, Francis Chan, Eric Metaxas, and more.  There was praise music and prayer right there in the theater.  My boys loved it!

I think it is so important that we teach our children how their faith plays out in their every day lives and the decisions they make.

I’m sure that you heart has been saddened, just like mine, by all of the junk that we have seen on tv during this election.  It has been overwhelming.  And it has made it very clear to  me how far from a Godly nation we have become.

And yet I know that God is not up in heaven wringing his hands over this election.  He is still in control.  And to be honest, there are much bigger things in this world and in our lives than who we should vote for.   (Although it is still very important to vote.)

God is more concerned about how we treat each other during this process.  He is more concerned about our hearts.  Are we loving him with our whole hearts?  Are we loving others with the same love that He has given us?

We do not need to worry about making America great again.

We need to focus on making God great again.  Great in our hearts.  Great in our lives.

If God is the #1 priority in all of our lives, and if we are living to please Him and be like Him, then our Nation will be great again.   Because people living in this nation will be living the way the Creator created them to live.

Can I get an AMEN?! :)

If we have more Jesus, we will have less violence because we will do unto others as we would have others do unto us.

If we have more Jesus, we will have less drugs because we will know that drugs only bring temporary happiness, but Jesus gives eternal JOY.

If we have more Jesus, we will have less discrimination because we will love each other more than we love ourselves.

If we have more Jesus, we will have less hopelessness because we know with Jesus all things are possible.

Are you picking up what I am laying down?!  :)

WE NEED JESUS!  And not just in America.  The whole world needs Jesus.

Wondering who our next president will be concerns me, but it doesn’t keep me up at night.  What makes my heart hurt the most is wanting everyone in this world to know the indescribable, undeniable, unforgettable love of Jesus Christ.  The transforming, joy-giving, peace-filling love of Jesus Christ.

In 1985, I was 15 years old.

“Jesus in your Heart” was a song that came out that year, and I loved it with all my heart.  I sang it in my bedroom every night, and I even sang it in front of church a time or two.  {And I’m not a singer, y’all.}

I found it on youtube, and boy does it sound like an 80’s song!  HA!  If you want to listen to it, you can find it here.  If not, I wanted to share the words of the song with you…

If I could have one wish, I know just what I’d like to find
If I could have one dream come true before my eyes
More than a pot of gold, more than a pathway to the stars
More than anything I know, I want Jesus in your heart.

If I could paint a picture in my mind of what I’d like to see
If I could take you once inside my deepest dreams
More than treasure’s glow
More than a comet traveling far
More than anything I know, I want Jesus in your heart.

He’s more than all the world can give
When He truly comes to live in your heart.
Why do you try to search for more,
When He’s what you’re looking for in your heart?

If I could have one wish, I know just what I’d like to find
If I could have one dream come true before my eyes
More than a pot of gold, more than a pathway to the stars
More than anything I know, I want Jesus, I pray you’ll find Jesus, I want Jesus in your heart.

My prayer this election year, and EVERY year, is that as many people as possible would come to know the REAL love of Jesus Christ.  If you don’t know Jesus, and just need to talk to someone about it, please email me at beneathmyheart4@gmail.com.  It would be my honor.  :)

God bless you, friends!!  Sending you much love from my sweet old Kentucky home!

xoxo

  1. Beautifully written, Tracy. It’s been such a disappointing time but He IS in control. We will carry on well after 11/8 has come and gone. We all need to be kind and love one another. A presidential term is just a blip in the light of eternity. Thanks for words of encouragement during these crazy times. xoxo

  2. Beautiful Traci, I was trying to place that song before I clicked on the link because it sounded so familiar and as soon as I saw Connie Scott, I remembered. I played that a lot too! ( I was 13 :). Your message is beautiful. We in the north don’t know how you all are dealing with the choices you have in this election. It is very sad for us too see America in this light. Keep sending your message out and thank you for reminding us that we all have a choice in who is in control of our lives.

  3. Traci this is absolutely beautiful. I trust I have permission to share some excerpts from it. I am 68 and this is the worst election process that I can ever remember but my heart is comforted in knowing that GOD is in control. I really needed to read this post because it truly expresses my heart cry. Let’s make God great again!!!!

    Much love

  4. AMEN!! 2 Chronicles 7:14 *If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. *

  5. Beautiful. I wish every news channel and political channel would run this. This truly is the answer to the state our country is in.
    Thank You Tracy.

  6. Amen Sista! THIS is what we need to hear more of! Thank you for writing it. Presidents will come and go, and our way of life will come and go, but the Kingdom of God will reign forever. As the old hymn states:

    “Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.”

    and Matthew 6:19-21 states:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
