DIY Matte Painted Night Stand
Hello friends!
Today, I am partnering with Krylon to share with you a makeover I did on a night stand in my daughter’s room.
I found this night stand at a Goodwill and have had it for at least 10 years, and we have used it in many rooms of our home. But when we brought our daughter home from Latvia 5 years ago, this nightstand found a permanent place by her little bed.
It has been in her room ever since then, even when we moved to Tennessee last year, and has been well loved.
The top of the table has always looked rough, but to be honest, I have always loved the “worn in” look and it didn’t bother me.
But since I gave her wall a fresh new look with a stencil and some paint, this little night stand looked even rougher next to it.
So I decided to use Krylon®’s Chalky Finish spray paint in “Mink” on this piece. It’s a beautiful warm gray and matched her stenciled wall perfectly!
As you can see, Krylon makes many different types of spray paints in matte and chalky finishes. They have even more colors than are pictured above.
Before I painted the table, I used a 220 grit sanding sponge to smooth the top of the table and help me remove any dirt or grime.
Then I used a tack cloth to wipe down the furniture and remove the dust before I painted.
I took a video of me spraying painting the table because I was the only one at home. haha! But I was able to capture some screenshots of the process, which is why the next two photos are a little blurry.
I loved how smoothly the paint went on to the table. I was able to paint this whole table with just one can in less than 15 minutes.
I love how it turned out!
It looks so good with her stenciled wall!!
I love to give new life to an old piece of furniture with paint! It’s so quick and easy!
Wow!!!!! That looks so great. I’m not crafty at all and I think even I could try that. :) Thanks for the neat ideas you give. I just love how her room turned out. So fresh and clean looking.
That is beautiful! Would you say the Mink color is a warmer gray or a cooler gray? You have inspired to get to work on a table I have had for years.
What is Old becomes New again…..this looks amazing.
I also love painting old/goodwill or thrift pieces I find. It makes such a difference.
Blessings,
Love the color you chose for the nightstand and how easy it seemed to spray paint it! I have been holding off on some painting projects because I thought it would be too labor intensive but I think I will try this! Thank you for the inspiration!
So cute – love the color! and yes, if you can give new life and purpose to a good piece why not. And the stencil is beautiful!
