Beautiful Kitchen Refresh
I am excited to share this kitchen refresh with you. This is a project with one of our Hutcherson Home Remodel clients. The same client that I just shared her boys’ bathroom remodel with you.
Last fall, we updated her kitchen. She didn’t want to change the layout of her kitchen, but she wanted to update the space with new paint on the cabinets, new countertops, and a few other changes.
The picture below shows how the cabinets were a glazed creamy color with outdated hardware. The countertop was busy and dark, and the backsplash was no longer her style. The homeowner wanted her kitchen to feel lighter and brighter.
To do this, Cy gave all of the cabinets a fresh coat of white paint. He installed new countertops and reconfigured the shape of the island.
It’s hard to see in the picture above, but the island had “legs” on it that Cy removed, and he created new side panels to match the rest of the island. I took some screenshots from a video so you could see what the island looked like before…
Painting the island a coordinating light gray really made it stand out in the kitchen!
The homeowner found these beautiful stools to go with her island. We decided to keep the same pendant lights above the island, but we spray painted them gold to match the cabinet hardware and island chairs.
Cy removed the appliqué on the oven hood because that definitely dated the cabinetry and did not match the homeowners current style.
The old backsplash was removed and replaced with a simple, white subway tile in an herringbone pattern.
A beautiful new farmhouse sink and new gold faucet were installed in the island.
The hutch on the side of the kitchen got the same treatment as the rest of the kitchen…new paint, new hardware, new countertop, and removal of appliqué.
There was also a small butler’s pantry off of the kitchen that had black cabinetry and the same old backsplash and countertop. Cy painted those cabinets white as well, added new hardware and countertop, and installed the same new herringbone backsplash to match the kitchen. (Sorry, I didn’t get the best pictures of this space.🥴)
The homeowner is thrilled with how much lighter and brighter her kitchen feels! We love it too!

Wow!! What a beautiful transformation!!! That is awesome!!! I wished you were closer to me. You are both so talented at home renovating. I always have the hardest times making small decisions like paint, flooring, etc.. It comes so natural to you! What a gift!!
