When I share my green bean trellis on instagram, this is the number one question I get.

I have fallen in love with trellises because they not only serve as practical support for climbing plants, but they also add a charming vertical element to my garden.

Benefits of Using Cattle Fence Panels:

  • Durability: They are made to withstand heavy use and weather conditions.
  • Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of climbing plants and vegetables.
  • Cost-Effective: Compared to custom-built trellises, cattle fence panels are often more budget-friendly.

Materials Needed:

  1. Cattle Fence Panels: I used two 16 ft x 50 in panels from Tractor Supply in between each of my 8ft garden beds. You will need to determine the size and number of cattle fence panels based on your garden’s needs.
  2. Metal Posts: I used six 5 ft studded t-posts from Tractor Supply.
  3. Post Pounder or Sledge Hammer: These are used to hammer the posts into the ground.
  4. Zip Ties: I used these to secure the cattle fence panels to the metal posts.

I made a reel on instagram to show the process of how we built our garden trellises. We built our first one last year, and I loved it so much, we built two more this year!

See! It’s not that hard to build one of these trellises with cattle panels! 👏🏻🎉. What do you think?

I’ll be sharing more about my garden in upcoming posts! I have really enjoyed working in it this year!

Do you have a garden or have you used trellises before? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!❤️

Have a blessed day!

xoxo, Traci
