Luke is Engaged!

Yes, y’all! Luke got engaged too! And guess what?! It was only FIVE days after Adam proposed to Lucy! 😳 Adam and Lucy got engaged February 4th, and Luke and Mia got engaged on February 9th! WHAT A WEEK!! !🎉🎉🎉

This was the SAME week that we closed on our Wilmore house and moved all our things to Tennessee, (the day before Adam got engaged.)🤪

So much has been happening, including breaking ground on our house, that I haven’t been able to share about Luke’s engagement here on the blog yet. But I am THRILLED to announce that Mia said YES, and I have another sweet daughter-in-love coming into the Hutcherson clan!🎉🎉🎉

This picture was taken 👆🏻 shortly after Luke proposed to her at a local park. It had been raining, and their engagement video is sooooo beautiful! I’ll share it at the bottom of the post, but first, let me tell you about their precious Love story and how it started during Luke’s brain surgery two years ago…

Luke and Mia met two years ago at the Passion Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s a faith based conference where young adults from all over the states come to learn about God and worship. Believe it or not, that was actually when Luke had a brain bleed! Remember that?!!

He started having migraines right after Christmas and was in excruciating pain for a week. We didn’t know it at the time, but he was having a brain bleed that could have been fatal! We now know that the bleeding stopped, but he still had a fist sized tumor on his brain for several weeks before we found it.

He was still in Tennessee with us for the holidays and during that time, he went to the Passion Conference. Sania and I went with him and stayed at a hotel nearby because I was still worried about him. He was still have quite a bit of pain and was on a lot of ibuprofen and Tylenol.

Anyway, he met Mia at that conference, and they began a sweet friendship. Mia was a God-send to Luke during that time. She lived in Florida with her parents, her older sister, and younger brother. Luke was actually still living in LA. Do you remember that too?!!! Crazy! He flew back to LA after the Passion conference and would talk to Mia on the phone every day.

His headaches continued in LA, so we had him go to get a brain scan, and that is when we discovered the brain bleed. We flew him home that night, and he was in the hospital the next day. Why am I telling y’all all that?

Because it was in the hospital that I got to know Mia through their phone calls and face times. Mia was such a bright spot for Luke during his two stays and surgeries at the hospital.

One night, I woke up to check on Luke, and he had fallen asleep. On his food tray over his hospital bed, he had his phone propped up and I could see sweet Mia’s face on the screen. She was asleep too. They had fallen asleep talking to each other over face time.

That was in February and March of 2022, and Mia was still a senior in high school. (She was 18 and Luke was 20.) She graduated in May, and that fall began attending college in Tennessee at Lee University. Luke and Mia were able to spend more time together during this time and their relationship continued to grow. After her freshman year of college, she moved to Franklin, Tennessee that summer to be closer to Luke. During that summer, she worked as a youth intern at a local church and loved it!!

She decided to move permanently to Franklin and got an apartment with some friends from church. Currently, she is finishing her theology degree online, and got a full time position as a women’s ministry assistant at that same church. 👏🏻

Because Mia is far from her family in Florida, she has spent a lot of time at our house with our family. We have all fallen in love with her, and she has blessed everyone of us. She is selfless, kind, and funny. She is also a great listener.

Her family drove up from Florida last Friday to be there when Luke and Mia got engaged, and it was such a special evening. Her younger brother wasn’t able to make the trip, but they had him on face time the whole night. It cracks me up how much taller Luke (6’4″) is than Mia’s family. 😂. This is her dad, mom, and sister below…

Aren’t they precious?! They are faithful believers in Jesus too, which makes this even a thousand more times precious. We all know that God brought Luke and Mia together, and we are so grateful. ❤️

Luke created a video for his instagram channel of their engagement, and I love it so much. I wanted to share it with you here…

So there ya go! Another BIG announcement for our family! I think I told you in my post about Adam’s engagement that he and Lucy are getting married in May. Well, Luke and Mia are getting married in July! So with two weddings and a house build…I guess you can say we are going to be pretty busy!

But I am so thankful it is all good things that will be keeping us busy. We are truly thankful to the Lord for blessings our family with two amazing young ladies!

Thanks for letting me share all the joys Beneath My Heart

xoxo

  3. Oh that is wonderful news for you all. What a sweet love story and engagement video. How did he video it? Wow!!!!! Two weddings so close to each other. How fun. I remember the days when I had my son graduating from 8th grade, my daughter from High School and my other daughter from College and she was getting married. This all happened between May and July. I could not keep the invites straight? I don’t think I would have like to add building a house. LOL We did that when I my oldest was 4 and I was pregnant with the 2nd. LOL Enjoy this time, it will go soooo fast. I’ll look forward to your future updates on it all. I follow Cyndi too and I’m sure she will be posting dresses to wear to a wedding. :) Your mama would be so proud and happy. I sure missed my dad during this special times in my kids lives.

  10. I finally got around to finishing reading this post and watching the video. It had me tearing up. They are a beautiful young couple! At least you and Cy are parents of the grooms instead of the brides with the weddings being close together.
