DIY Natural, Non-Toxic Pest Repellant
I’m so excited to share with you a GARDEN UPDATE along with my DIY Natural, Non-Toxic Pest Repellant recipe!

To say I have had fun in my garden this year would be an understatement. I cannot believe how much my garden has grown! It brings me so much joy!
The addition of the perimeter planter boxes that Adam made me and two more trellises has allowed me to plant SO MUCH more this year.

Of course, I planted my white half runner green bean seeds on my middle trellis again this year. I absolutely LOVE these green beans. They are the ones my daddy and Nannie always planted, and they grow fast and lush!
In the garden boxes, I planted regular potatoes this year instead of sweet potatoes. It’s the first time I’ve ever planted regular potatoes, and they did fairly well. We’ve already eaten a bunch of them, and they were delish!
Of course, y’all know I added these twinkle lights to all three of my trellises. They are the best! I’ll never have a trellis without them. 😂

Check out how much everything has grown this year….

I planted several different varieties of tomatoes again this year, but the ones that have done the best both years are the Celebrity tomatoes. They just produced the most perfect, delicious and healthy tomatoes each year.

My squash plants always produce WAY more squash than we could ever eat. So I give some away and feed some to our chickens too. They love them.
My garden has just grown so well this year! I think one of the reasons is because I use worm castings as my fertilizer. I’ve used it both years, and my plants have grown so healthy.

My favorite new plant that I planted this year was Autumn Frost Squash. I thought they looked pretty on the little plant label, and I had extra space in my garden, so I thought WHY NOT? 🤷🏻♀️😂
OH MY! They have literally taken over one side of the garden. They have filled up the whole garden bed and then climbed over my tomato plants and up the trellis. They even grew out and up the outer fence!😂
But I LOVE THEM! I have little mini pumpkins hanging from my trellis, and it’s just purely delightful!

And they produce the most perfectly small, magical little pumpkins you ever did see!

We have so many of these little pumpkin squash, and I’ll definitely be decorating with them in my home. I’ll also be sharing with everyone I know. haha! You can eat them, so we are going to try a few recipes this fall.
This year I also planted sunflower and watermelon for the first time. They are growing like crazy too! So fun!

I can’t get over that all of this came from some little seeds.🤯
In the front boxes of my garden, I planted zinnia and vinca. They have grown so big! I love having all of the bright colors in my garden, and they attract pollinators. #doublebonus

I planted corn for the first time this year. Sania LOVES corn! So far, they are looking pretty good. I think we have about 14 or so stalks.
See the empty garden bed, below? That was suppose to be my strawberry bed last year and this year…and nothing. I plated a bunch of strawberry plants last year, and they did terribly. I tried again this year, and well…you can see the results. Oh well! You can’t win them all.

I’m so grateful for my garden. I’ll be able to see it right outside the kitchen window in our new home. Can’t wait!

Here is a video from instagram of my garden’s progress from a few weeks ago…
I’ve also been using this DIY Natural, Non-Toxic Pest Repellant Spray, and it has really helped. I was starting to get Japanese beetles on my green beans, and after I sprayed the repellant, I haven’t seen them any more. I’ve also used it to keep squash bugs at bay.
You can find the recipe in the caption of the video below…
Have you planted anything this year? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
Have a blessed day!
xoxo, Traci

hey girl- I just love our garden! Oh so cool! Great job Tracy!
Thank you!!
This gives me such inspiration! We have a new build and our backyard is all grass. I’m dreaming of a greenhouse shed combo and raised beds gardens hopefully next year. LOVE your twinkle lights and thank you for the pest control recipe!
Awesome! You’re welcome. I would love a greenhouse too!
Love your garden. It is so pretty. I have a very black thumb. I even struggle with fake plants (ha!). Our yard sits on top of a very large cave system. We struggled for years to get grass to grow and finally gave up after trying multiple things. My mom used to make squash pie. If you like pumpkin pie, the squash pie seemed to have better flavor. Not sure if your mini-pumpkins can be used in a pie. I’m jealous of your cooler weather! Central Texas is still very hot. I am definitely ready for it to cool down.
I will definitely have to try a squash pie! Yes, I am hoping to get cooler weather here too. Let’s go, Fall! :)
