Plans to do “something” to the boys’ room!

Hey friends!

This past weekend, I got a “hankering” to do something in the boys’ room!  And any thing I do  in that room will be a HUGE improvement!   haha!

But let me back it up for a minute…

We have been in our home for a year and a half.

In that time, we have been working non-stop on renovating our home.

We completely gutted the kitchen/sunken den area when we first moved in.  Then we completely remodeled the front of our exterior during the winter months.  Last spring, we started renovating the hall bathroom during covid, and then last summer, we renovated the back of the house and added a large deck.

Cy also built a shed during that time.

We had to pause the work on the deck at the end of the summer to get approval from planning and zoning for the changes we were making in the garage.

Oh!  And we worked on our Kentucky house all of last year too!

Why am I sharing all that?

I guess to remind myself of how far we’ve come, because it still feels like we have such a long way to go?!  #ugh

And I guess I feel the need to explain why we haven’t done anything to the boys’ bedroom during the past year and a half?!

When we first moved in, we basically threw a dresser and two twin beds in their room, and called it a day!

I haven’t tried to do anything to that room until about a week ago.

When I finally got tired of seeing the fitted sheet hanging over the window!

This week on Instagram, I shared their room and my simple plans to improve it.  I also shared how I want to be the best “not put together” person on Instagram.

I wanted to share those stories here on the blog too!

We hope to get some of the work on their room finished this weekend, so I hope to share an update with you next week!

Have a blessed day, friends!

xoxo

  1. I love that you don’t have it all together because neither do I! Nor do 99% of the people who make us think they do. Ha! It takes time and patience and UMPH to get it all done and you’ll get there in time. Thanks for your transparency and I can’t wait to see what you do!! God bless you and your family.
(I love when you post on your blog since I’m not on social media anymore. )

  2. Nope, don’t have it all together here either! I’ve been in my home 14 years and still have way too much to do. Nice to know I’m in awesome company!

  3. I love you, Tracy, because you are real!! Everyone in blogland is or has been exactly like this because hey, it’s real life!!! If anyone had the gall to unfriend you because of this, then turn them loose. You don’t need those fake people!!

  4. Thank you for posting that real photo of your boys’ room. It looks much like my boys’ room with stuff under the bed, and piles under and on top of the dresser. It’s been a disaster since Christmas and I don’t have the motivation to monitor the clean up and organization. Just close the door until spring,

  5. Thank you for sharing this. I wish I could do anything you’ve done. I have no creative talent and so not good at decorating etc. I see your projects and wish I could do things. My house needs an update but don’t know where to even start. Thanks for this video and being real with us. I know what’s really important but I’d love to love my home space too. I’ve missed your videos as I don’t have any other social media but just emails to get your blog. I enjoy your sisters too. You both are lovely people. I love listening to your accents. :)

  6. I posted earlier but don’t see my comment. Ummm??? I never do when I comment on your blog. But this is a PS as I forgot to say it. Your skin is beautiful. It’s flawless. What do you do for skin care or is it heredity? Looks like you didn’t get sun damage at all over all these years.

  7. Hi, How is the bathroom holding up? I was wondering about the new finish on the tiles and counter if they could stand up to the needs of a large family and humidity. were you able to complete the shelves?

  8. You had me laughing out loud! I needed that! Actually your boys’ room looked pretty good and clean…the beds were even made! Anyway, it is about people, not things. It’s nice to have a good lookin and organized house, but it’s not what life is all about. I do hate tablecloths, towels and sheets over windows though. And I’ve been tackling the same “Help the House” projects. Can’t call them event a refresh or a remodel, but sometimes the smallest things do make a big difference. You are talented and beautiful inside and out Tracy. Keep on being you.
