DIY-ing our Basic Brick Ranch into the Cottage of our Dreams {Part 8}
Hey guys! I took a little break from my home renovation series, but I am back today with Part 8.
If you missed the previous 7 posts in this series, you can check them out by clicking on the links below:
Part One: Our Exterior
Part Two: Our Addition
Part Three: Kitchen Makeover
Part Four: Guest Bathroom Makeover
Part Five: Office Makeover
Part Six: Master Bedroom/Bath
Part Seven: Boys’ Rooms
Today, I am going to show you the progress we have made in our den! It has been a looooong work in progress!
You can see the where our den is located in the picture below, and how we made changes to the rooms to the right of the den to make room for our new addition.
So you can see in the picture below how we began to tear down the wall in the dean. The white door led to the old bathroom (which eventually became a part of our master bathroom.)
Once the wall was completely torn down and the doors to the bathroom and bedroom “walled in,” it began to look like this…
We also installed new hardwood floor in the den (for the second time,) but that’s a whole other story! :)
(The first time happened HERE.)
One of the biggest changes we made to our den was our Fireplace Makeover.
This is what it looked like the day we moved in…
This is what it looked like after my talented hubby built a new surround on it…(you can see that we also painted the back of our front door to match the fireplace.)
And this is what it looked like after my talented friend, Layla, styled and photographed it. :)
Truthfully, since our den is still a “work in progress,” I’ve never taken pictures of the whole room. But I have written several posts that show parts of the room, so I will share those now.
I showed you some of the room when I did my first coffee table makeover...
Here is a sneak peek of the other side of my den this past fall when I showed you my second coffee table makeover…
You can see that I added a large jute rug to this space.
The corner to the left of my fireplace has become my favorite spot in the den because of this sign!
I got it from Between You and Me, and I adore it!
You can see it again here in my Christmas Home Tour…
To the right of the fireplace is our front door, and I showed you a little industrial coat rack I made for that corner in this post….
Like I said, this room is a work in progress! We are actually working on building some custom shelving behind our love seat, and I hope to have that ready to show you by next week. I will try and take some wider shots of the room at that time. :)
I still have two more posts left in this series. The boys’ bathroom and our future plans for our home. Yay!!
I love how Layla styled the fireplace. The wingback looks great in that corner as does the original narrow table. It really helped ground the space.
Thank you Teresa!
Hi! I’d like to know the paint color you use on your walls. Thanks!
